Secure a Wide Second Shot Area with a Bold Carry Over the Left Bunker

This dynamic par 5 is designed with a hidden complexity. Though obstacles may not be visible from the teeing ground, they are strategically placed throughout the hole, requiring more calculated and rational decisions than simply aggressive play. The hole curves left before bending back to the right toward the green, forming an S-shape—making it difficult even for Tiger Woods to reach in two. This design has earned it the nickname “Tiger’s Claw Hole.” Rather than attempting a risky two-on, players are advised to play this hole with careful strategy. Long hitters may opt for a wood or even an iron off the tee instead of a driver. A safe aim point is the far right edge of the left-side bunker; the carry distance over this bunker is approximately 210 yards. From the tee, the fairway appears narrow and sloped, which can be visually intimidating. However, if you take the bold approach of carrying over the left bunker, you'll be rewarded with a wide landing area for your second shot. The ideal position for your second shot is near the bunker on the slope to the right side of the fairway. From there, attempt another bold play to overcome the remaining hazards and position yourself closer to the green. Keep in mind, your approach must pass over the bunkers guarding the lower left side of the green.
